Uganda & Kenya Updates

As I sit here in Nairobi, Kenya I thought I would take the time to write a brief update of my experiences so far doing training in Uganda and Kenya. Firstly I was quite amazed at the beauty in Uganda. For some reason I had in my head that Uganda, being near central Africa, would like all those pictures you see of the African plains. As you can see from my picture below that is not the case. In fact if I hadn't known better I would have thought the plane accidently went to an island somewhere in the Philippines or somewhere similar.

The people of Uganda are just as beautiful as the landscape they live in. I had the privilege of training 15 trainers(10 from Champions United Sports Ministry and 5 from the Bible Society of Uganda). While our time was brief(we compacted 3 days into 2 because of schedules) it was fruitful and several said they would like to work towards becoming IBD Master Trainers meaning they would then organize and conduct Interactive Bible Discovery trainings with other trainers. Very excited about the possible multiplication that could come from that!

From Uganda I travelled to Kenya and have been very much enjoying my stay so far. The people here are just as friendly and welcoming as in Uganda, however, whereas our training location in Uganda was more rural, Nairobi is a very big and densely populated city. Thankfully I am not having to experience the Nairobi traffic(I'm told it can be quite awful) as the training venue is directly across the street from the guesthouse where I am staying.

We began the training here in Nairobi today with 26 participants. While I have been taking quite a few pictures of the training here, however I am waiting to post any until I am certain it will not adversely affect anyone. Some of the trainings have traveled as far as two days journey to come to this training and live in areas where there is much persecution for your faith so I just want to be certain not to unwittingly compromise them or their ministries. Keep checking for updates and hopefully I will put a few more pics up in the coming days as we go through the course.
