Checking Back In...

After several crazy months of change and new things I am at last getting back to updating our blog. For those who have been following via our newsletter and email updates you know that we are now living in Pretoria and that I(Matthew) have been working with Davar Partners International now since March. It has been quite the roller coaster ride moving from Rustenburg but at last we seem to be hitting our stride here in this new season.

I have been slowly getting up to speed at Davar, learning all that they do and the vision and goals of the ministry, not to mention what my role is. In short Davar is dedicated to promoting scripture engagement among the various Bible-less oral peoples around the globe. My role in this currently ranges from helping organize and facilitate translations to conducting training with ministry leaders and pastors in orality and scripture engagement among oral learners.

Recently I had the privilege of training 22 pastors and leaders from a small African community just north of Pretoria. During the course of two days myself and my director facilitated training sessions on such subjects as the Importance of the Word, Language of the Heart, Obedience Based Discipleship, and many others. In addition we equipped each attendee with two Audibibles, one for themselves and one to give away. It was a great time and I look forward to going back later this month to followup with everyone.

Next month I have the joy of going back to Rustenburg along with Christiaan(one of the technicians who handled the ABP recording) and celebrating the release of the Tswana Full Bible in audio. We will be presenting each of the narrators and proof listeners who helped in the project with an Audibible loaded with the Setswana FB and the Tswana Listen Through The Bible Study guide. This is a very exciting event for me as it is dream nearly 6 yrs in the making!

Lastly I will be traveling to Mozambique at the end of July to celebrate the completion and release of the Makonde NT & OT Portions. While there I will also be presenting a vision casting session for ministry leaders there to help promote audio Scripture Engagement utilizing the Audibibles we will be distributing at the event.

These are just a few of the upcoming ministry opportunities. Over the next year Davar has scheduled to record roughly 20 more Full Bibles in the heart languages of various oral peoples from Africa, India, Central and South America. Beyond that we are looking to host events all over the globe in partnership with many different ministries and all with the aim of promoting Scripture Engagement and Discipleship among the least reached peoples in the world. Please be praying for strength, favor, wisdom, and grace as we go forward seeking to proclaim His Word to those who have not yet heard!
