Ride2Transform Malawi 2015

Davar Partners International and OM Malawi have begun a three year partnership to impact Malawi for Christ. The initial launch event will take place in three weeks time. A group of 9 cyclists and 9 support team members will be cycling and driving across Malawi praying and seeking outreach opportunities for future outreach teams who will come in 2016 and 2017. Additionally each cyclist has been challenged to raise $300 either through sponsors giving a lump sum or by get sponsors to sponsor per kilometer that the riders cycle. The money raised will go towards various OM and Davar projects within Malawi ranging from early childhood development and feeding programs to distribution of Audibibles and scripture engagement training.

I(Matthew) will be driving in one of the support vehicles this year and possibly leading an outreach team next year and 2017. In addition to praying as we ride and drive through Malawi we will be having a focused day of prayer on Sunday May 24th. Our outreach team together with ministry and church leaders from around Malawi will be joining together to pray for the people of Malawi.

Lastly we will be looking to distribute 100 Audibibles as we travel through Malawi. Based on Davar's research each Audibible on average will reach about 50 listeners per month or around 500 per year. That means in a year's time those 100 Audibibles have the potential to reach nearly 50,000 listeners with the Word of God!

With all that said we would like to challenge our supporters to get involved in one or more of the following ways:

1. Pray
a. Firstly I would like to ask for prayer coverage over the team traveling through Malawi. Please pray for safety for the cyclists as well as those riding in the support vehicles. Pray for divine appointments along the way as we look for future outreach opportunities. Pray that the Lord would direct our thoughts and prayers along the way. Pray for the cyclists to have endurance to complete the course.
b. Second I would like to challenge everyone to pray with us on May 24th for the nation of Malawi. Pray that the people of Malawi(specifically the Chewa and Yao peoples) would come to know their Lord and Savior. Pray that His Word would go forth and bear much fruit

2. Give a Bible
We have made a goal to take 100 Audibibles with Chewa and Yao to give away on our outreach. Each Audibible costs us R300 or about $30US. Will you prayerfully consider sponsoring a Bible for the people of Malawi?

3. Go
While this years team and trip is set we will be going again next year and also in 2017. Will you prayerfully consider giving two weeks of your time and joining us as we seek to reach the people of Malawi with the Word of God. Uganda & Kenya Updates

As I sit here in Nairobi, Kenya I thought I would take the time to write a brief update of my experiences so far doing training in Uganda and Kenya. Firstly I was quite amazed at the beauty in Uganda. For some reason I had in my head that Uganda, being near central Africa, would like all those pictures you see of the African plains. As you can see from my picture below that is not the case. In fact if I hadn't known better I would have thought the plane accidently went to an island somewhere in the Philippines or somewhere similar. What is Interactive Bible Discovery?

Over the past year or so I have mentioned Interactive Bible Discovery a number of times and talked about getting to facilitate a number of IBD training courses. As some of you following our newsletters and blogs are not familiar with IBD I wanted to take the opportunity to share a bit about what exactly is Interactive Bible Discovery and what it means to facilitate an IBD course. Firstly, Interactive Bible Discovery is a method of communicating Scripture that integrates storytelling and Audio Scripture Engagement to create an ongoing process of discipleship within an oral community. Rather than teaching or explaining to communicate meanings from the Word, questions are used to promote discussion and interaction from all participants. Kenya Training Photos and Observations...

Yesterday I promised that I would post some pictures of the training and so here are a few. We had a few new people join this morning who had been traveling from other areas so we are up to 29 trainers now. I must say that this has been by far the best training that I have been a part of to date. Throughout the course the trainers are taught how to learn and tell Scripture Stories accurately in order to take them to the oral learners whom they work and live with. They are broken into small groups to practice the various stories. Then each group must decide on one person to tell the to the larger group as a whole. During the second day we practice what it will be like for them as individuals to be sent to another group, church, village, etc. And so when they have decided within the group who there "missionary" is they lay hands on that person and "commision" them to go and "send them to their target village" (Read other group) to...
