Love Africa Followup...

Finally getting around to an update on my travels. Last Tuesday I returned home after spending 6 days in Zambia at the Love Africa Conference hosted by OM Zambia. Love Africa is an annual event held by OM and attended by both local and international missionaries and ministries as well as OM leaders from around Africa. This years conference, we were told, had over 800 attendees from more than a dozen nations.

Morning Worship on Saturday...

Davar had to privilege of having a exhibition booth as well as facilitating a workshop session on "Impact Amongst Oral Communities". Myself, Johan(my director), and Corne Loots(order fulfillments) each took turns manning the booth and sharing with the many attendees who came to check out Davar. It was an great time of networking with missionaries and ministries from all over Africa and hopefully will translate to open doors for training and Scripture Engagement in the future.

At our workshop Johan and I took turns sharing about who Davar is and about the Interactive Bible Discovery course. We had roughly 30-40 people attend the session and overall felt it went very well. There were a lot of questions and quite a few people came up afterwards asking for more info on how to get trained.

All that said, probably my favorite part of the conference was the chance it afforded me to sit with the people in OM who have gone through the IBD training previously and to hear their testimonies of implementing the training in the field. We heard about many 3rd, 4th, and even 5th generation storytellers being trained and starting audio Scripture Engagement groups!

Honest(2nd generation IBD Trainer) with a former Muslim who accepted Christ
through hearing the Audibible in his own language and is
now a 3rd generation IBD trainer!

One particular testimony that stood out was from a trainer who works largely within Muslim communities. He shared how in one of the communities the Imam came to him and asked for an Audibible, after listening to the Audibible and learning how to study the Word using the IBD methods the Imam not only gave his life to Christ but he has been "covertly" teaching his followers at the mosque from the Bible sharing the stories and the principles that he himself is learning! It seemed there were countless stories that were similar to this one, how awesome to see God at work in the Muslim world!
